结构组成主要有偏心轮、柱塞、弹簧、缸体、两个单向阀。柱塞与缸体孔之间形成密闭容积。偏心轮旋转一转,柱塞上下往复运动一次,向下运动吸油,向上运动排油。泵每转一转排出的油液体积称为排量,排量只与泵的结构参数有关。齿轮泵(英语:gear pump, gear pumps, gear wheel pump)是机器润滑、供油或其它液体系统中的一个部件,液压泵的一种,属旋转式。齿轮箱内有2个或2个以上的齿轮啮合,在旋转作用下从一侧吸入流体再向另一侧排出。其振动及噪声比螺杆泵稍大,可作为螺杆泵代用型式。其作用是使油或其它流体介质具一定的压力和流量及流向。齿轮泵最基本形式就是两个尺寸相同的齿轮在一个紧密配合的壳体内相互啮合旋转,这个壳体的内部类似"8"字形,两个齿轮装在里面,齿轮的外径及两侧与壳体紧密配合。来自于挤出机的物料在吸入口进入两个齿轮中间,并充满这一空间,随着齿的旋转沿壳体运动,最后在两齿啮合时排出。
由于这一过程发生在一瞬间,所以引起局部的液压冲击压力和温度均急烈升高,并引起强烈的噪音和振动,即发生所谓“气穴现象”.同时因为长时间受到气泡中的氧气的酸化作用和液压冲击及高温作用,零件表面将受到腐蚀,称为“气蚀”.空气的可压缩性大,液压系统中含有空气还会使执行元件运动速度不均匀,产生爬行现象,有时甚至引起振动.工作液混入大量空气,还容易使工作液变质,降低其使用寿命.

(1)随着柱塞数的增加,无论偶数柱塞泵还是奇数柱塞泵,流量脉动率都下降。(2)相邻柱塞数相比,奇数柱塞泵的脉动流量远小于偶数柱塞泵的脉动率。 轴向柱塞泵均采用圆柱形柱塞.根据柱塞头部结构,有三种型式,(1)点接触式柱塞,(2)线接触式柱塞,(3)带滑靴的柱塞.选用带滑靴的柱塞,柱塞头部同样装有一个摆动头, 称滑靴,可绕柱塞球头中心摆动.滑靴与斜盘间为面接触,接触应力小,能承受较高的工作压力.高压油液还可以通过柱塞中心孔,沿滑靴平面泄露,保持与斜盘之间有一层油膜润滑,从而减少了摩擦和磨损,使寿命大大提高.目前大多采用这种形式轴向柱塞泵.
